KBX Technology Solutions, LLC, a provider of transportation technology to industry leaders, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tech Lead Data Engineer. As the Tech Lead Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing data solutions to support our business objectives. You will be part of a of data engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of data-driven solutions.


Our Team

The KBX data engineering team is integral to our organization's data ecosystem, focusing on developing robust data solutions for our enterprise data platform. Our primary responsibility is to efficiently ingest data from diverse sources into our cloud data warehouse system, making it easily accessible and actionable for downstream users. This team regularly collaborates with architects, platform engineers, data implementation specialists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration and utilization. We are currently engaged in a transformative phase, working towards building advanced data solutions that align with data, strategic objectives, and drive business innovation.


What You Will Do

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of data engineering solutions, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses.
  • Solve complex problems using a broad perspective, collaborate with applicable knowledge sources and diverse perspectives, and share findings with your peers as appropriate.
  • Design proof of concepts to drive innovation and continuous improvement in data engineering processes and technologies.
  • Design & Optimize data solutions that adhere to agreeupon organizational standards and follow industry best practices and modernization.
  • Create reusable templates by performing analysis, design and development work using a variety of solutions and technologies. Propose alternative solutions to achieve desired result.
  • Mentoring a team of data engineers providing guidance and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data engineering projects.
  • Document standard practices, areas of improvement, knowledge share sessions & perform on call support, as needed.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience working with Python, SQL, data warehouse systems, data lake systems, and data pipelines in a cloud environment
  • Experience with ETL tools Apache Spark or Talend or AWS Glue or AWS AirFlow or Kafka
  • Experience using source control platforms like Gitlab or GitHub
  • Experience delivering advance analytics solutions, reporting, and managing big data
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with API integration, streaming data and handling semi-structured data
  • Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, container-based deployments, and storage architectures
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and proficient using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience working in transportation or logistics industry


For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
