Job Description

WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Radio/Microwave Tower Engineer (IT Infrastructure Consultant) for our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the Milwaukee office.

This is a job family (Associate IT Infrastructure Consultant/ IT Infrastructure Consultant /Senior IT Infrastructure Consultant) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.

Job Summary

As an IT Infrastructure Consultant for the Network Infrastructure Team, you will work as a member of the team to support the company's IT infrastructure and be involved in both design & engineering and operational activities. You will work on specific functional areas including, but are not limited to LAN/WAN systems, telecommunications, and radio/microwave technologies. Your responsibilities include design & engineering tasks such as planning, evaluating, designing, and testing of systems, in addition to consulting, budgeting, cost analysis, and vendor analysis. Operational duties include managing radio/microwave facilities and all of its components.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and engineer various device and system configurations utilizing prescribed methods. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced IT Infrastructure Consultant or other senior staff.
  • Maintain key performance and process metrics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, procedures, and systems, generally under the direction of senior staff.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of all assets associated with the communication towers, from acquisition through decommissioning ensuring optimal utilization and maintenance of these assets.
  • Properly applies a wide variety of codes, standards, and regulations and coaches others on properly use. Update drawings and other engineering documentation and maintains corporate records by filling in accordance with business unit guidelines.
  • Ensure communication towers meet local, state, and federal regulations and standards. Stay abreast of industry changes and update tower management practices accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant radio/microwave towers experience
  • Tower facilities knowledge such as generators, site grounding, HVAC, and structural integrity
  • Utility/Energy industry experience
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license
