Job Summary
The Elmhurst Learning and Success Academy (ELSA) is a four-year certificate program for students with disabilities. We are seeking an individual to teach 5 ELSA math credit courses:

Fall Semester
  • ELS 052 Concepts of Math (First 8 weeks of Fall Semester, Tuesday/Thursday 8:00-9:40)
  • ELS 082 Financial Smarts I (Second 8 weeks of Fall Semester, Tuesday/Thursday 8:00-9:40)
  • ELS 084 Financial Smarts III (Tuesday/Thursday 9:50-11:35)
Spring Semester
  • ELS 083 Financial Smarts II (Tuesday/Thursday 8:00-9:40)
  • ELS 085 Financial Smarts IV (Tuesday/Thursday 9:50-11:35)

To be a successful ELSA Adjunct, candidates should be invested in being collaborative, possess the desire to work in higher education, and must be open to working with students with varying abilities.
Essential Functions
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers math instruction.
  • Collaborates with Director and other adjunct faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum as needed for mastery of course content.
  • Provides students with assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Documents student progress and maintains accurate records such as attendance, grading, and achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in working and problem solving with staff regarding student/class needs.
  • Maintains office hours.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate and build rapport with students.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Work Hours
Class offerings are primarily during the day (8:00 am - 4:00 pm). See Job Summary for specific information for the upcoming academic year.
