MINIMUM PAY RATE: Refer to the current adjunct faculty contract

POSITION SUMMARY

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing instruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Courses at Joliet Junior College may be offered in various delivery modes including, but not limited to, face-to-face, online and hybrid. Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student's needs as diverse learners.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students' diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving

2. Create an effective learning environment that fosters students' intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies

3. Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course

4. Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student's ability to learn

5. Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student's needs as diverse learners

6. Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and data collection for assessment of student learning

7. Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

8. Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations

9. Assignments in teaching will be at the main campus or online.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master of Science in Jurisprudence or Master of Science in Law (MSL)

2. Teaching experience

3. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat.

4. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, detail-oriented with the ability to proofread and type accurately.

5. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively work with minimal supervision.
6.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Juris Doctor (JD)

2. Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferably at the higher education level.

3. Verbal and written communication proficiency.

4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

5.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal office physical demands.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
